The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Saturday announced that the final results for the second round of presidential elections will be released on Sunday, adding that "the decision is final and unchangeable."

The acting secretariat for the IEC, Ahmad Jawed Habibi, said the technical processes of the election has been concluded leaving no reason to delay the announcement any further.

"I have a positive message for the people of Afghanistan," Habibi began to say. "The commission has decided to announce the final results of the election tomorrow [Sunday]."

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a source from the Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) tells TOLOnews' that over a million votes have been invalidated, of which 250,000 are from the provinces of Khost, Paktia, Paktika, Ghor and Maidan Wardark where claims were made that large-scale fraud took place.

ECC spokesman Nadir Mohseni said that massive votes have been invalidated by the commission, but did not disclose numbers.

"Despite the votes invalidated by the IEC, the ECC has also invalidated an immense number of ballots," Mohseni said.

ECC's final decision included invalidating an additional 118 polling centers, which the IEC appealed.

"We appealed ECC's decision of invalidating 118 polling centers, but the ECC came back revising only 10 centers, cancelling a final number of 108 polling centers," Habibi explained.

Final results, per IEC's announcement, will be announced Sunday after a long and weary plus six months.
